Sidney Baldwin papers, 1891-1986.

This collection is composed largely of newspaper columns written by Baldwin, mostly for the Peoria Star (Illinois), dating from the late 1890's through the 1950's. There is also biographical and genealogical information included, as well as some early family correspondence and several photographs of Baldwin in her later years. Also included in the collection is unpublished poetry, student responses to Ben of old Monhegan, engraving plates, and a reel tape of a radio interview.

Sidney Baldwin (1885-1978) was born in Peoria, Illinois. In 1898 she began writing for the Peoria Star, founded by her father, Eugene F. Baldwin. She later became a drama critic and wrote the column In my opinion for the Star. Baldwin also wrote for the Ladies' Home Journal, was a commentator on radio progams and was a regular comlumnist for the Boothbay register.
